If you are planning to stay in Velankanni and can afford to pay between Rs. 2000 to 3000 for an air-conditioned room, the Queens Inn Velankanni can be the best bet.
Queens Inn Velankanni
The Queens Inn Velankanni is an upscale hotel situated in the highway less than 1 km from the Velankanni city center. During our stay in this hotel, we loved the food and the rooms. The staffs were very friendly and services were in time. The Queens Inn is a big property with ample space for parking.
On a tour
Whenever we go on a Navagraha temple tour, we also visit the Velankanni Shrine. We had two plans to stay overnight, either in Velankanni or in Mayiladuthurai. For this reason, we did not book rooms in advance.
As we reached Velankanni at about 2 pm, we drove into Queens Inn Hotel for lunch. When I casually enquired about the room rates, the prices were trending upwards of Rs. 2700 for an A/c room. It included the complimentary breakfast as well.
I told the staff at the reception that we would not have breakfast, as we will be checking out early morning. We got a discount of Rs. 500 per room.
We ordered for fish curry and plain white rice that made a great combination. We also ordered nethili fry (Anchovy), chilli chicken and a south Indian meal. If you are fan of fish curry rice, order nothing but this.
Fish Curry (Basha)
I give full marks to the rooms at Queens Inn Velankanni. You will love the perfectly furnished rooms – the double cot, sofa sets, writing table, wardrobes, mini refrigerator etc.
The Queens Inn Hotel is about 1.6 kms from Velankanni Church. Although there are several hotels near the Church, we preferred the Queens for – great price, good rooms, great food and of course, vast parking space.
